You've heard the buzz about "cloud computing", but what exactly is it? Definitions vary but the simplest one we've found is from the Wall Street Journal:
"Information is stored and processed on computers somewhere else - "in the clouds" and brought back to your screen." (WSJ, 3/26/09)
Essentially, you can do MORE
with less hardware and software because you buy only what you need as you need it. In the case of software, instead of purchasing a software program, you merely subscribe to a service which rents you the application. Since the software's functions are being delivered to you through a network, you can access the service from any device that is internet connected. As IBM's Erich Clementi recently put it: "Cloud computing is a different way of consuming and delivering computing." Your My-personal-files.com secure storage space is an example of cloud computing. You don't need to build your own online safe deposit vault, we have done it for you. Although definitions of the term may vary, one thing's for certain: cloud computing is the wave of the future because it saves you time and saves you money and allows you to do a lot more with a lot less.
